The Clink Charity is a national rehabilitation charity providing training opportunities and support for people in prison, and those who could be at risk of reoffending, through training restaurants and kitchens.
When the charity cleared used kitchen equipment from four of its sites that were due for closure, it needed a sustainable reuse service to give the kit a new lease of life - and approached experts Ramco for help.
Bringing its experience in managing and rehoming surplus commercial kitchen equipment, Ramco provided a full-service solution starting with collecting the assets identified for reuse – including coffee machines, glass washers, and combi ovens. After being transported to Ramco’s facility the equipment was catalogued, photographed and marketed through Ramco’s online catering auctions to buyers that could give the equipment a second life.
Working with Ramco meant The Clink could efficiently clear its sites and ensure unwanted equipment is used in a new and productive home. Rather than ending up in waste streams, the equipment has been given a second life, whilst generating a financial return for The Clink that can be reinvested.
This partnership between The Clink and Ramco shows how a simple, reuse-first approach to surplus equipment can save time, recover value, and support sustainability - giving organisations a hassle-free solution to manage their surplus assets responsibly.
