Ramco rise through the ranks

Since 2015, Ramco has shown its support for armed forces personnel by consistently signing the Armed Forces Covenant, an agreement that represents a promise by the recipient to show commitment towards supporting the Armed Forces community. So, what does this really mean? Well, the Ministry of Defence says that “It is a pledge that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives”.

For Ramco, we've achieved this by promoting the military community on notice boards and across our digital media platforms, displaying the Armed Forces Covenant Logo to show that members of the community are welcome customers, or simply via celebrating Armed Forces Day as a business.

But, it doesn't stop there. We know that there’s much more we could be doing to expand our support for military personnel. That’s why we’ve taken it one step further by successfully applying for and earning a Bronze Reward for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). With the Armed Forces Covenant being a prerequisite of the ERS, the latter requires Ramco to introduce new initiatives to provide more enhanced, tangible support to members of the Armed Forces.

Ultimately, this means we pledge our intention to support military personnel, take an armed forces friendly position and are completely open to employing veterans and supporting in their transition towards civilian life. The Bronze Award is the next step in the process, but we aren’t done yet. There’s more work to be done, with Gold and Silver awards to be won!

Demanding further and more direct support for the armed forces community, the Gold and Silver Awards necessitate that its holders, to name a few of the requirements, employ at least one individual from the armed forces, proactively demonstrate that service personnel/armed forces are not unfairly disadvantaged, implement policies and frameworks designed to reduce the current issues and, finally, to act as an exemplar of best-in-class practice within their particular industry.

Organisations that have already achieved Gold Awards include the likes of Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Kuehne & Nagel, Sodexo, and Veolia UK!
