Hot off the press! MOD printing equipment sold by Ramco for £125k

After an extensive planning process reuse specialists Ramco has removed and rehomed over 40 pieces of old and redundant printing equipment from MOD Feltham.

The printing equipment, including a large MAN Roland lithographic printing press and various other smaller machines and accessories, required removal from the site as it prepares for closure this year (2025).

Ramco's solution

Ramco, the MOD’s contractor for the disposal of surplus equipment, was tasked with managing the project — including arranging a sale of the printing machinery (150 tonnes worth to be exact!), safely coordinating the large-scale extraction and removal process, and clearing the building all whilst meeting the MOD’s rigid project timeline.

Aware of the equipment’s desirability despite its age, Ramco was confident it could add value for the MOD by finding the right buyer. Given its specialist nature, Ramco set up an online auction targeting international buyers of industrial printing machinery.

Results

The equipment was sold for a whopping £125,000 after a highly competitive two-week auction. The successful bidder was a large UK-based specialist printing equipment supplier.

Ramco worked closely with the extraction team to produce a comprehensive plan for safe removal of the equipment. Then, over six weeks, each machine was decommissioned, extracted, loaded, and transported off-site, ready for a new lease of life.

Ramco’s hassle-free compliant service meant the MOD could safely and efficiently clear its site (at no cost!), generate a financial return and ensure its specialist printing equipment is reused.

Sharon Ikin, Service Request Manager at MOD Feltham, said:

"The removal of printing machines from Feltham was an extensive and complex project, but we are really impressed with how it was carried out.

"Everything went smoothly and we were kept updated with progress throughout. The site was left clean and tidy on completion. A big thank you to everyone involved!"

On its mission to give surplus assets a new lease of life, Ramco continues to help businesses sell surplus equipment of all shapes and sizes, whether upgrading equipment, relocating, closing down, or selling unwanted assets.
