Ramco is on a mission to end wastefulness for good and advance the circular economy. This commitment to promoting sustainability has evolved into our Carbon Reduction Plan, positioning us as a responsible leader in sustainability initiatives and reaffirming our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
The Carbon Reduction Plan aligns with key UK legislation, such as the Climate Change Act, and international frameworks like the Paris Agreement. It outlines clear targets for reducing emissions across Ramco's operations, with our Head of Operations Adrian Foreman being appointed to oversee the CRP and report progress quarterly to the Ramco Board of Directors.
Since the baseline year of 2022, Ramco has already made significant strides, reducing total emissions from 739 tCO2e to 655 tCO2e in 2023. Key initiatives have included improving building energy efficiency by reinsulating the roof, transitioning to cleaner fuels for its forklift fleet by replacing older gas-powered trucks to newer and more environmentally friendly models, and encouraging sustainable commuting through a 'Cycle to Work' scheme.
In line with its Carbon Reduction Plan, Ramco is a proud subscriber to the Social Value Portal, benefitting from its Social Value TOM System™ to maximize its social, environmental, and economic contributions. Ramco also subscribed to EcoVadis in 2022, and we have already improved our sustainability score, now placing us in the top 92 percentile.
Neil Sanderson, Managing Director of Ramco had this to say:
"At Ramco, sustainability has always been central to our mission, and we are proud to announce the release of our Carbon Reduction Plan, outlining our commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 or earlier. This plan underscores our dedication to environmental stewardship and aligns with the UK's broader sustainability goals."
