Ramco markets surplus high spec digital tv transmitters

We are delighted to announce the sale of a significant range of high specification surplus digital television transmitters. Used temporarily in the UK as part of the clearance of the 800 MHz spectrum used for digital TV and mobile communications, the transmitters will be of interest to transmission network operators or broadcasters around the world looking to upgrade or implement Digital TV infrastructures. “The sale includes a total of 13 fully climate controlled transportable containers comprising DVB-T and DVB-T2 transmitters and associated control and switching equipment manufactured by NEC and Rohde & Schwarz,” confirms Neil Sanderson, director, Ramco (UK) Ltd.

“In their current configuration the transmitters are capable of almost immediate use in regions adopting DVB-T and DVB-T2 such as Europe, Africa and much of Asia. Subject to modification either by upgrading the software and/or the exciters they may also be used in regions using ATSC or ISDB-T. “This is a unique opportunity to acquire excellent quality, little used equipment which has been maintained to a high standard by Arqiva, the UK’s specialist transmission provider, at a fraction of the cost of purchasing brand new,” explains Neil Sanderson. “The transmitters were originally designed to provide high levels of availability and reliability during the re-engineering of the UK domestic TV network. Now they are suitable for installation and use almost immediately for a digital TV project, for new digital TV services, a hot spare in the event of an outage or even good quality spares.

“The systems were engineered to enable auto-changeover to a reserve configuration, remote diagnosis and control over a transmitter control telemetry system and local manual change over if required,” continues Neil Sanderson. “Further standalone pairs of transmitters are available (one NEC transmitter with dual medium power amplifier racks and auto switching matrix and two R&S single rack low power transmitters). All equipment was fully, maintained and functional having been professionally decommissioned from various transmission sites around the UK.
