Our guide to exporting post-Brexit

With the Brexit transition period coming to an end on the 31st of December 2020, Great Britain has now officially left the European Union. This brings various changes to the requirements and legislation relating to the exportation of goods from Great Britain to Europe. Ahead of the closure of the current Ramco auction on the 9th of February, we would like to take this opportunity to reassure our international customers that we are dedicated to facilitating and maintaining the efficient exportation of goods purchased from Ramco. To ensure that the exportation of goods purchased from Ramco can be completed seamlessly and efficiently, and to support you throughout the export process, we have listed some essential information/guidance below:

KEY

EORI = Economic Operators Registration and Identification Number  MRN = Movement Reference Number 
*ROI EORI Number begins with XL GMRN = Goods Movement Reference Number
*NI EORI Number begins with XI EU = European Union
*GB EORI Number begins with GB NI = Northern Ireland
TSS = Trader Support Services ROI = Republic of Ireland
PBN = Pre-Boarding Notification GB = Great Britain

EXPORTING: STEP BY STEP PROCESS

Brexit Movement Customer Requirements VAT Treatment Duties/Customs

GB to EU 

Step 1 - Customer registers for an EORI number. Unsure how to do that? Click here

Step 2 - After purchase, the customer will receive an invoice from Ramco UK Ltd.

Step 3 - The customer appoints a customs agent (for export and import).

Step 4 - Customs will then send the customer a receipt of their MRN.

Step 5 - The customer must then send the MRN number to their transport/haulier provider to create the PBN.

Step 6 - The haulier uses the PBN number to create the GMRN.

Step 7 - The goods are then ready for export.

VAT can be deferred if you have a valid VAT number and you have ensured that all relevant export and transport procedures have been adhered to.  No additional customs or duty is applicable. 

GB to ROI

 

Step 1 - Customer registers for an EORI Number. Unsure how to do that? Click here

Step 2 - After purchase, the customer will receive an invoice from Ramco UK Ltd.

Step 3 - The customer appoints a customs agent (for export and import).

Step 4 - Customs will then send the customer a receipt of their GB MRN. 

Step 5 - The customer must send the MRN number to the transport/haulier to create the PBN.

Step 6 - The haulier uses PBN number to create the GMRN.

Step 7 - The goods are then ready for export.

VAT can be deferred if you have a valid VAT number and you have ensured that all relevant export and transport procedures have been adhered to.  No additional customs or duty is applicable. 

GB to NI

Step 1 - Customer registers for an XI EORI number. Unsure how to do that? Click here

Step 2 - After purchase, the customer will then receive an invoice from Ramco UK Ltd.

Step 3 - Customer registers with TSS. They provide the MRN.

Step 4 - The haulier uses the MRN to create the GMRN.

Step 5 - The goods are then ready for export.

No change. No change.

EU to GB

Step 1 - Customer registers for an EORI number. Unsure how to do that? Click here

Step 2 - The customer appoints a customs agent (for export and import). The agent requires an invoice including an EORI number.

Step 3 - Customs will then send the customer/seller a receipt of their MRN.

Step 4 - The customer must then send the MRN number to the their transport/haulier provider to create the PBN.

Step 5 - The haulier uses the PBN number to create the GMRN.

Step 6 - The goods are then ready for export.

VAT can be deferred if you have a valid VAT number and you have ensured that all relevant export and transport procedures have been adhered to.  No additional customs or duty is applicable.
